About Me

I’m a UK-based IT professional with broad, hands-on expertise across the entire technology stack — from networking and infrastructure to cloud services, virtualization, backups, and security. With over a decade of personal computing experience and several years in managed services, I thrive in versatile roles that demand problem-solving across diverse IT environments. Currently, I work as a Service Desk Engineer at a managed service provider (MSP), delivering both frontline and escalated support to clients ranging from small businesses to multi-site enterprises. My day-to-day involves tackling complex issues across networking, virtualization, cloud platforms, and security, leveraging tools like the Kaseya suite (RMM, VSA, Backup & Recovery) to monitor, manage, and protect client systems efficiently.

Expertise & Key Skills

As a true generalist, I bridge gaps across all layers of IT. Areas I regularly handle include:

  • Enterprise Networking — Routing, switching, VPNs, firewalls, and secure connectivity
  • Virtualization Platforms — VMware, Hyper-V, Proxmox
  • Microsoft Ecosystem — Microsoft 365 & Azure (Entra ID, Intune, Exchange, Teams)
  • RMM & Backup Solutions — Kaseya suite, Veeam, Microsoft 365 backups
  • VoIP & Communications — Microsoft Teams Phone, Avaya systems
  • Server & Software Administration — Linux and Windows environments, application support
  • Monitoring & Proactive Management — Logging, alerting, and root-cause analysis

I’m often the go-to escalation point for complex issues, thriving in scenarios with limited documentation or direct access.

Approach & Philosophy

Analytical, methodical, and adaptable — I focus on root causes over quick fixes, clear communication, and sustainable solutions. Colleagues value my dependability, rapid learning curve, and ability to challenge assumptions to achieve the best outcomes.

I enjoy mentoring junior team members, refining processes, and designing systems that are secure, maintainable, and scalable.

Personal Projects & Interests

Outside of work, I’m building a self-hosted AI and automation platform integrating machine learning, monitoring, observability, and modular services. This keeps me engaged with cutting-edge technologies and sharpens my perspective on modern infrastructure.

I’m also passionate about gaming and computing — from retro classics to modern titles — and exploring how technology shapes interactive experiences. Later, I plan to launch a blog where I’ll share insights on IT, automation, security, and maybe even a few gaming and tech reviews.

Key interests include:

  • AI-assisted operations (AIOps) and intelligent automation
  • Security monitoring, SOC tooling, and threat detection
  • Network automation and Infrastructure as Code (IaC)
  • Privacy-centric, self-hosted solutions
  • Gaming, computing history, and emerging tech trends

Education & Certifications

  • BSc (Honours) Computing & IT (Communications and Networking) — The Open University
  • Ongoing development through Cisco DevNet and hands-on lab work
  • Multiple Cisco certifications, including CCNA tracks in networking, security, and automation
